Antibiotics Non-ribosomal peptide synthetase module fusions to produce derivatives of daptomycin in Streptomyces roseosporus Doekel, S. et al. Microbiology 154, 2872–2880 (2008) Peptide antibiotics, such as daptomycin, are made by large non-ribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs). These enzymes comprise several modules that each add one specific amino acid (and in some cases non-standard amino acids) to the growing polypeptide.
