About the authors

Marta Fernández-Suárez

Marta Fernández-Suárez is a research fellow in the Center for Engineering in Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. She completed her Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she worked in Alice Ting's laboratory on the development of cellular reporters of protein trafficking and protein–protein interactions. Her current postdoctoral research focuses on the development of new tuberculosis diagnostics for resource-limited settings.

Alice Y. Ting

Alice Y. Ting is an associate professor in the Chemistry Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. She trained with Peter Schultz for her Ph.D. and with Roger Tsien as a postdoctoral fellow. Her research focuses on the development of novel reporters for imaging specific biomolecule trafficking and function in living cells, especially neurons.
