PI3K signalling in immune cells

Bart Vanhaesebroeck, Klaus Okkenhaug and Christian Rommel

Phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) has important functions in the immune system impaired PI3K signalling can lead to immunodeficiency, whereas unrestrained PI3K signalling contributes to autoimmunity and leukaemia. Two of the eight catalytic isoforms of PI3K that exist in mammals, p110δ and p110γ, are considered to be promising pharmacological targets for the treatment of autoimmune, inflammatory and allergic diseases, among others.

This Poster and the accompanying Review1 provide an overview of p110δ and p110γ signalling in T cells, B cells, mast cells and neutrophils, and characterize the biological consequences. The Poster is freely available thanks to support from Merck Serono International S.A.
