Innate immunity: sensing and signalling

Eicke Latz and Katherine A. Fitzgerald

The innate immune system is the first line of defence against invading pathogens. Detection of such pathogens is a complex business, involving several families of pattern-recognition receptors and an array of signalling molecules, which ultimately lead to the expression of key factors that direct the host immune response. Understanding these mechanisms has implications for the development of immunotherapies and vaccine adjuvants.

This poster provides an overview of the components and networks involved in pathogen sensing and signalling in the innate immune system. The poster is freely available thanks to support from MedImmune.
