Allergy and Asthma: Calling all TH2 cells

Lucy Bird

Our understanding of how pathogens such as bacteria and viruses induce T helper 1 (TH1)-cell responses greatly exceeds our knowledge of how TH2-cell responses are induced by allergens and parasites. Now, two papers readdress this balance and show that signals derived from basophils and eosinophils are directly involved in the induction of TH2-cell responses.
