Duration of treatment with albendazole for hepatic toxocariasis

With great interest, I read the case report of Hossack et al. about adult hepatic toxocariasis.1 The case is typical of an individual severely affected by visceral larval migrans due to the larvae of the Toxocara species. Most cases of hepatic toxocariasis show few or no symptoms, and eosinophilia, often found incidentally, is a common initial clue to suspect helminthiasis. Although the CT findings for hepatic lesions in Hossack et al.'s case were different from those reported elsewhere,2,3 this difference is probably because a large quantity of larvae had invaded the liver of the patient, leading to fusion and enlargement of hepatic lesions.
