Peppermint oil is an effective antispasmodic
Abstract
Mizuno S et al. (2006) Oral peppermint oil is a useful antispasmodic for double-contrast barium meal examination. J Gastroenterol Hepatol 21: 1297–1301 Antispasmodics, such as glucagon and anticholinergic agents, improve the diagnostic accuracy of double-contrast barium meal examinations (DCBMs); however, they have been associated with adverse events, are contraindicated in some patients, and usually require intravenous or intramuscular administration.
