About the editors

Chief Editor Louisa Flintoft, PhD

Louisa Flintoft completed her PhD at Imperial College, London, studying nervous system development in Drosophila. Her postdoctoral research in Guy Tear's group at the MRC Laboratory for Developmental Neurobiology, working on genes involved in axon guidance in the fly, provided her with experience in a range of genetic and molecular biology techniques. Louisa joined Nature Publishing Group in 2002 as a copyeditor for EMBO Reports and also worked as an assistant editor for Nature Reviews before joining the Nature Reviews Genetics team in September 2004.

Senior Editor Tanita Casci, PhD

Tanita Casci obtained her PhD in Matthew Freeman's lab at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, studying Drosophila developmental genetics. With her previous experience of C. elegans genetics, Tanita brings considerable expertise in invertebrate model organism genetics to the Nature Reviews Genetics team.

Associate Editor Mary Muers, DPhil

For her DPhil, Mary Muers worked on the human genetic disease ATR-X syndrome with Doug Higgs and Richard Gibbons at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine in Oxford. She continued this research as a postdoctoral scientist, expanding her interest from molecular mechanisms in mammalian development to epigenetic processes of gene regulation.

Assistant Editor Meera Swami, PhD

Meera received her PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Glasgow, where she researched the role of DNA repeat instability in Huntington disease with Darren Monckton and Peggy Shelbourne. During this time, she also worked as a science communicator at the Glasgow Science Centre. Following on from her interest in the phenomenon of somatic instability and its relationship to Huntington disease pathology, she then carried out a postdoctoral fellowship investigating genetic modifiers of repeat instability in Vanessa Wheeler's group at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Meera joined Nature Reviews in September 2008.
