Eur J Endocrinol 157: 271–277 The standard test for differentiating between pituitary and ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-dependent Cushing's syndrome is corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)-stimulated inferior petrosal sinus sampling (IPSS); however, the discriminatory power of this technique has been questioned.
