Building the bridge from bench to bedside
Abstract
Translational research in the UK received a boost from the UK government in April this year when the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) announced 12 new hospital-based biomedical research units, funding them with up to |[pound]|1 million per year. The intent is “to bring together a critical mass of clinical investigators,” says Professor Sir John Bell, Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University.
