John P. A. Ioannidis

John P. A. Ioannidis, Professor of Medicine, Health Research and Policy and Statistics at Stanford University, has been on a campaign against poor research practices and irreproducible science for decades. With the launch of the Meta-Research Innovation Center at Stanford (METRICS) in April, he tells Asher Mullard, he has created a rallying point for fellow crusaders. Backed initially with US$6.1 million from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, Ioannidis, Stanford epidemiologist Steven Goodman and an expanding team of scientists will ramp up their research on research, delving into how to best address bias, poor statistics, inadequate study design and much more. Like all good investigators, he has more questions than answers.
