The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) relies on evidence-based reviews to help identify areas for clinical investigation. The information regarding the efficacy and safety of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies spans a continuum that ranges from anecdotes and retrospective studies to small randomized controlled (Phase II) clinical trials, and Phase III trials.
