Can outpatient interleukin-2 and interferon replace high-dose interleukin-2 for metastatic renal cell carcinoma?
Abstract
McDermott DF et al. (2005) Randomized Phase III trial of high-dose interleukin-2 versus subcutaneous interleukin-2 and interferon in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. J Clin Oncol 23: 133–141 Synopsis Background A small percentage of patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have prolonged disease-free survival following high-dose intravenous bolus interleukin-2 (HDIB IL-2) treatment, but high costs and significant toxicity have restricted its use to a highly-selected patient group within specialized centers.
