Diabetes: Does screening for inducible ischemia improve outcomes?
Abstract
Type 2 diabetes affects approximately 200 million individuals worldwide, and the increasing incidence of this condition is partly the result of poor lifestyle choices and the growing obesity epidemic. A substantial proportion of the morbidity and mortality among patients with type 2 diabetes is caused by atherothrombotic cardiovascular disease, which has earned type 2 diabetes the dubious distinction of being considered a coronary artery disease (CAD) equivalent.
