Quantum phases of matter: Room for one more
Abstract
In the past two decades, the standard theory of metals — known as Landau's Fermi-liquid theory — has increasingly come under attack because of a variety of experimental discoveries. Particularly intriguing is the observed breakdown of Fermi-liquid theory in certain rare-earth alloys poised at the brink of a phase transition to magnetism.
