Abstract
Properties of the |[lsquo]|electron gas|[rsquo]|—in which conduction electrons interact by means of Coulomb forces but ionic potentials are neglected—change dramatically depending on the balance between kinetic energy and Coulomb repulsion. The limits are well understood.
