Electronic paper targets colour video
Duncan Graham-Rowe1
Abstract
Although electronic paper that can display monochrome static images has been growing in popularity, the next generation of products will soon be capable of displaying video in full colour. Duncan Graham-Rowe reports.
Electronic paper (e-paper) made from thin reflective displays, which use ambient light rather than backlights to generate an image, have been a much talked about technology for some time. But so far such e-paper displays have only managed to claim territory in a handful of niche markets, largely because of their inability to generate high-resolution colour images or refresh at video rates.
