Abstract
It is no secret that a new science or technology can provide subject matter for science-fiction authors. The possibilities of genetic mutations caused by atomic bombs, for example, led to creatures such as the giant ants of Them, and Godzilla only went on the rampage after he was awoken from a deep sleep by a nuclear explosion.
