Iodoacetamide-induced artifact mimics ubiquitination in mass spectrometry
&
Abstract
To the editor: Mass spectrometry has become the standard tool to map sites of ubiquitination, which is a covalent protein modification with a central role in regulating cellular processes. Ubiquitin is a small and highly conserved protein that is enzymatically attached to specific lysines of substrate proteins via its C terminus.
