Superconductivity was recently observed in the binary iron-based compound, FeSe. It is now shown that under pressure, the transition temperature can rise above 36 K. In addition, no static magnetic ordering is observed for this system, contrary to FeAs superconductors. Superconductivity was recently observed in the binary iron-based compound, FeSe. Many studies on the properties of the recently discovered ferropnictide superconductors report seemingly contradictory results. A theoretical study suggests that these contradictions might be resolved by considering such materials as having a strongly magnetic ground state whose domain boundaries fluctuate, preventing their experimental detection.
