Abstract
What prompted you to take up your present position? I was asked by the Japanese government whether I would be interested in this position. I worked for more than 30 years in the Japanese government, in METI [Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry], mostly in the areas of science, technology, industry as well as energy.
