Spin electronics: Thin skins for magnetic sensitivity
Abstract
The magnetic tunnel junction is emerging as a basic building block of spin electronics, where electron spin is no longer ignored, but exploited. The furthest advanced of the spintronics devices is non-volatile magnetic random-access memory, whose long-heralded commercial debut 'next year' now really seems about to come true.
