Abstract
Neurodenerative disorders such as Huntington disease lead to neuronal cell death in discrete regions of brain. A new study implicates the CREB transcription factor family as critical mediators that prevent such neuronal death.
Cell death in the nervous system has been a subject of intense investigation in the last several years. The field is driven by the knowledge that the identification of factors that promote neuronal survival may provide therapeutic opportunities for the treatment of a variety of neurodegenerative disorders.
