Zinc-finger transcription factors can be engineered to target specific genes. Now this approach is applied successfully to a clinically relevant setting in mice—promotion of angiogenesis. (pages 1427–1432)


Many factors impinge on the formation of blood vessels, but the ultimate control of angiogenesis resides in the nucleus. It is there that the activity of multiple signaling pathways is evaluated, resulting in changes in transcription-factor activity and gene expression.
