Unable to pass legislation banning human cloning, the United States is equally undecided about which way to move regarding research into embryonic stem (ES) cells. Although recent weeks have seen the formation of new pressure groups designed to lobby Congress to approve federal funding of ES-cell research, some believe that the Bush administration may soon rule against allowing government cash for such work.
