'Orphans' meet cholesterol

Abstract
Retinoids have a wide variety of biological functions and have been recently shown to regulate cholesterol transport, bile acid synthesis and cholesterol absorption. These findings indicate a new line of mechanisms to control cholesterol homeostasis.
The recent movie Cider House Rules features an orphanage filled with 'discarded' children of various ages and sizes. A chief goal of the institution is to find parents for the orphans, or at least to help them find their place in the world.
