Expression of the uncoupling protein Ucp in skeletal muscle prevents
diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance. Similar effects are seen in response
to increased physical exercise, indicating that pharmacological strategies
designed to manipulate energy expenditure can be used to treat obesity and
