Harvard Medical School researchers in June reported that they had found no evidence mature mammals can generate new eggs, challenging the validity of controversial findings published by another Harvard group last year.Jonathan Tilly and his colleagues last year reported evidence of new eggs in mature mouse ovaries and suggested that egg cells can arise from bone marrow or other circulating cells and then travel to the ovary through the bloodstream (Cell 122, 303–315; 2005).
