Abstract
Signals mediated by the T cell antigen receptor (TCR) are required for the development and homeostasis of T lymphocytes. The molecular mechanism by which engagement of the αβ TCR by complexes of peptide and major histocompatibility complex (pMHC) initiate signal-transduction cascades has been a matter of intense investigation since the TCR itself was identified.
