Division of labor among meiotic genes

Meiosis is a specialized type of cell division in which daughter cells with half the normal chromosomal complement are produced from progenitor cells. These cells subsequently fuse during fertilization to reconstitute the normal chromosomal complement, forming the cornerstone of sexual reproduction.
