Abstract
Plant immune responses are usually accompanied by the production of extracellular superoxide at and surrounding infection sites. Extracellular reactive oxygen intermediates (ROIs) in plants were proposed to drive programmed cell death correlated with disease resistance (the hypersensitive response).
