Cellulosic ethanol hits roadblocks

The business of biofuels

This year was supposed to be a big year for BlueFire Ethanol. The company, based in Irvine, California, had planned to start operating its first commercial cellulosic biofuel plant by the end of the year, converting waste from a neighbouring landfill into ethanol.
