Australia launches carbon capture institute
Organization hopes to spur commercial demonstrations worldwide.
Australia's Prime Minister Kevin Rudd yesterday launched a government-funded initiative to coordinate and accelerate carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects worldwide.
"Our vision is to build an institute that will galvanise global efforts to demonstrate and deploy CCS technology," Rudd told the initial meeting of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute (GCCSI), based in Canberra, on 16 April.
