The last thing we need in this over-politicized domain of "climate change" is more politics. Interdisciplinary research here should be restricted exclusively to atmospheric, ocean, soil--and similar--sciences, including physics and geophysics, generally. We don't even know if "global warming" is real. There hasn't been any in the last 10 years. But there's been plenty of unhealthy and unhelpful politics!
One of the problems with integrating social science into the program might be that many physicial scientists' perception of the world beyond their domains is so blurry they can't tell the difference between social science and politics...
