Nobel for AIDS virus discovery, finally
Medicine prize goes to virus researchers; physics prize given for symmetry-breaking work.
Two French virologists who discovered HIV share this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with a German oncovirologist who showed that human papilloma virus (HPV) causes cervical cancer. After several recent incidences of rewarding late-coming trend-riders rather than true ground-breaking pioneers Nobel Prize finally returns to its true character. This years awarding in Medicine/Physiology as well as Chemistry may send a clear message that, in science, the highest honor should always be extended to true pioneers who made the FIRST discovery. This noble decision may also send another message that there should be no more rush for any unproven discovery no matter how much media spun has been applied to it and how high an instant impact factor it has been assigned.------Shi V. Congratulations to Zur Hausen, Barré-Sinoussi, Montagnier. They really did the excellent work for the society, who discovered viruses that cause deadly diseases, and whose findings have led to major medical advances. May these drugs are early and easily available to the common person for their benefit and healthy life. Sandesh Jaybhaye My Prof. Maheshawar Sharon Dr.Madhuri Sahron and NTRC Birla College Parivar pray to mighty god these scientist have Happy and Healthy life to continue research. Trusting God won't make the mountain smaller but it will make climbing easier. Hope you will be able to climb all your mountains always.
