There is a typo in "Sierpi?sky" ? the accent should be on the n, not before it. Apparently you tried to use the deadkey method (hitting the ´ key and then the letter which is to be accented). But unfortunately, the culturally biased standard keyboard drivers support this method only for Western European characters (e.g. typing ´ followed by e will yield é) and not for Central/Eastern European ones. I suggest using the ?ibboleth(R) virtual keyboard driver that allows you to type ´n in order to get ? (www.sonderzeichenhilfe.de/eingabehilfe.html). In MS Word, type 144 and hit Alt+C or Alt+X (depending on your system). This should result in the letter ?.
Oh no!!! The CEE letters in my post were turned into question marks! This means that this page does not support the universal character set (Unicode) that was established in 1992 and is used everywhere else from Facebook to Wikipedia. How embarassing for Nature! I hope you will correct this asap.
