Developing nations reject G8 climate agreement

Moving targets dog greenhouse-gas deal.

Developing nations led by China and India have rejected a proposal by G8 (Group of Eight) leaders to tackle climate change.

The plan, outlined at this week’s G8 meeting in Toyako on the island of Hokkaido, Japan, would see greenhouse-gas emissions cut by 50% by 2050.

  • People should use public transportation instead of car atleast for going to their work. Governments should also encourage this and provide more bus services for the public usage.

  • The release of greenhouse gases and pollution in general are global issues because their effects are now global. Therefore every citizen of the world should have equal voice in matters related to these subjects. Rich countries want to globalise the economy so that they can exploit cheap labor and lax laws in other countries. Like any other expansion though with this must come the inclusion of every country in the world to the geopolitical process especially where it relates to the welfare of the planet that we all share.

  • Rich countries tend to ignore their responsibility and so far the welfare of the planet remains in serious risk. Part of it has to do with selfishness, the fear of losing power and above all the small point of viewing from those who explore instead of preserve. It seems things wont change at all, despite of the signs earth has been giving to us.
