To generate the dancing figures, the researchers placed
41 reflective markers at strategic points on the dancers' bodies.
Infra-red cameras were then used to detect the reflections from eight
infra-red beams, and the resulting data were used to recreate the dance
using an androgynous computer-generated figure.
