Uranium in a basket

A pocket radioactive contamination detector could be around the corner, Philip Ball reports.

Picturethis: radioactive waste from nuclear power stations may have leaked from its underground storage site, contaminating the nearby aquifer. Environmental inspectors need to determine at once how far the pollution has spread.
