Through a lens, darkly

A new approach to making photographic emulsions with improved light-sensitivity, reported in Nature1, might lead to clearer low-light images and faster high-speed photography.

Photography has always been limited by the amount of light needed to generate an image in the emulsion that coats photographic paper.
