New flavours for carnivorous cones
Cone shells (genus Conus), familar from tropical beaches, are among the most attractive of all shellfish - and also among the most deadly. There are approximately 500 species of these marauding molluscs: they are carnivorous, paralyzing their prey with a cocktail of powerful neurotoxins, called conotoxins.
