Astronomers debate the benefits of manned spaceflight.

Inthe wake of debate about sending people to Mars, European astronomers discussed sending humans to a much nearer target - the Moon - at last week's National Astronomy Meeting, at the Open University in Milton Keynes, UK.

The discussion will feed into Europe's 30-year plan for space travel, called the Aurora programme, which will support about 50 projects.
