Ants avoid traffic jams
Foraging workers push and shove to steer others around bottlenecks.
When it comes to traffic congestion, ants prefer the no-nonsense approach - they barge others out of the way, forcing them to take an alternative route.
The strategy allows ants to prevent time-consuming blockages on foraging trails, say European researchers.
