Inert gas goes organic

Krypton persuaded to take part in the chemistry of life.

One of the most inert substances in the world has been persuaded to take part in the chemistry of life.

Leonid Khriachtchev at the University of Helsinki in Finland and his co-workers have made an organic compound - one involving carbon atoms - containing the gas krypton1.
