Monkey business in Japanese mountains
Female macaques fraternize most with other females.
Evidenceis growing that, like us, some animals often seem to choose temporary mates for sexual and social gratification, rather than to have offspring.
Female Japanese macaques, for example, seem to prefer fleeting single sex relationships to those with the opposite sex, says psychologist Paul Vasey from the University of Lethbridge, Alberta.
