Diabetes therapy called into question.

Stem cells may impersonate pancreas by absorbing, not making insulin.

Scientists working on stem cells to treat diabetes could be following a misleading method, say a group of US scientists.

The technique in question is thought to convert malleable stem cells taken from embryos into pancreatic cells that make insulin, the hormone that diabetics lack.
