Microchain to drive ant-sized machines

Millimeter long silicon chain could move miniaturization forward.

A bicycle chain the size of a grain of salt may one day power devices such as the shutters of microsurveillance cameras. The microchain is the latest addition to the growing microtechnology toolkit.
