Imperfect vaccines and the evolution of pathogen virulence
Vaccinations may increase death toll.
Inadequatevaccines can encourage the emergence of nastier bugs, placing the unprotected at risk, a new mathematical model shows. The effect could undermine future vaccination programmes.
