Matchmaking marks genes
DNA is a cultural marriage register.
Our cultural traditions may mark our DNA. Studies of Thai hill tribes now suggest that marriage practices have stamped differing patterns of genetic variation on the sexes, which could trip up the trawl for disease genes.
