Labels for ginseng liquids, powders and capsules may bemisleading

Consumers who buy ginseng supplements for their touted energy-boosting benefits may not be getting what they bargained for.

A chemical analysis of 25 ginseng products from a California health-food store has shown that the level of ginsenosides, ginseng's active components, varies widely: 15-fold in powders and capsules, and 36-fold in liquid extracts.
